Mechanical Trainee Engineer

Salary: £9,405.00-£18,140.00 per year (age dependent)
You will have an interest, aptitude and a degree of experience in maintenance and repair and enjoy all things mechanical.
The role is to learn how to maintain, setup and operate high speed precision machinery within manufacturing environment and to gain knowledge of: envelope manufacturing, paper converting, printing and folding equipment.
You will be trained and mentored to develop your mechanical skills, knowledge and understanding to: maintain, set up and operate a wide range of production machinery to deliver day to day production – including:
• Setting up and making ready envelope production machines
• Machine minding and running envelope production machines
• Reactive Maintenance – breakdown repair
• Fault Finding
• Planned Maintenance – Refurbishment program
• Always ensuring Quality Control and correct Health & Safety standards at all times

Halm Jet Envelope 4 colour Printing Press Operators

Job Purpose:

• To produce high quality print to the timescales required for efficient working

• To keep the machine in good working order

Key Contacts/Working Relationships:

• The role is to be part of an overprint team 

• The role reports directly to the Print Manager

Job Holder Responsibilities:

• To produce printed envelopes to the job specification supplied

• To ensure the quality of every job.

• To follow the quality standards as described in our ISO 9001 procedures for Printing.

• To complete all paperwork associated with the job and the quality procedure

• To ensure a high level of Health and Safety is maintained on the machine at all times

• To complete any routine cleaning and maintenance of the press (maintenance is supported by our internal team)

• To complete all hours as detailed in the shift pattern supplied and to provide holiday cover for other team members

• All work carried out and any waste created must be moved or disposed in adherence with our environmental standard ISO 14001

Decision Making Authority:

• Solo decision making on colour and print of every job produced, supported by the Line Manager (when on site) and the system at all times

Job Specific Skills Essential:

• Significant, recent experience of running a 4 colour press

• Excellent colour knowledge and be able to identify poor print

• Experience of using colour management standards

Preferred:

• Experience of running a Halm Jet presses would be beneficial

• Experience of working within ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 practices

Major Challenges:

 • Ensuring high quality print at all times whilst keeping make ready and set-up times to a minimum for efficiency

Behavioural Competencies:

• Calm, approachable and professional manner

• Solution focused approach to solve issues and problems 

• Ability to be flexible and understanding (of the print industry demands)

Full time, permanent role working 40 hours per working week + a minimum of 8 hours overtime is required per week.

Multi Skilled Mechanical & Electrical Engineer

You will have min 5 years experience in maintenance and repair of high speed precision machinery within manufacturing environment – ideally with knowledge of: envelope manufacture, paper converting, printing and folding equipment.

You will deliver day to day Mechanical & Electrical Engineering site needs – the maintenance and service of a wide range of machinery – including:

• Reactive Maintenance – breakdown repair

• Fault Finding

• Installation

• Fabrication

• Planned Maintenance – Refurbishment program

Electrical fault find and repair skills – control panels, switches, sensors, relays, motors, drives etc.

17th Edition Wiring Regs – minimum

Mechanical maintenance and repair skills – gearboxes, pumps, shafts, bearings etc.

Ability to perform plc fault find repair work
